Tailored & Guided Travel

A trip can include private guides, a well-run group journey and time entirely on your own. We help decide where expertise improves the experience, then connect the moving parts.

Our point of view

We design around how you like to travel. Some places deserve a brilliant guide. Some afternoons deserve no plans at all. The aim is a coherent itinerary with enough structure to make things work and enough freedom to enjoy being there.

Our starting short list

These are starting points for a personal recommendation. We compare the specific property, ship or itinerary with your dates, priorities and budget.

For private and guided journeys

Abercrombie & Kent

A&K offers private Tailormade Journeys and small-group travel. We would compare those formats when you want destination expertise with a clear structure behind the trip.

Before you choose: Decide whether you want a private pace or the shared experience of a scheduled journey.

For an established escorted itinerary

Tauck

Tauck’s guided journeys belong in the comparison when you value having the route and arrangements organized. We look at the particular itinerary rather than assume all group travel feels the same.

Before you choose: Check group style, hotel choices, free time and daily activity requirements.

For safari and nature-led trip ideas

&Beyond

A useful name to explore when the brief centers on wildlife and remarkable natural settings. We would consider the properties and touring options in the context of the full route.

Before you choose: Match the region and season to your interests before selecting individual stays.

For the details that need local knowledge

Destination specialists & private guides

We also build with local experts selected for the destination and assignment. Their role may be a day of guiding, a sequence of transfers or the ground arrangements for the entire trip.

Before you choose: We explain who is handling each part, with Hayden connecting the overall plan.

Where the trip could take you

A city pair, thoughtfully connected

The right hotels, a sensible transfer day, selected private touring and enough unscheduled time to find your own rhythm.

A honeymoon with more than one chapter

Combine activity and downtime without turning every other day into a packing exercise. We start with the experience you want together.

Family or multigenerational travel

Build around room needs, mobility, ages and different interests. Shared days and optional activities can both belong in the same trip.

What we compare before recommending

01. What deserves a private guide, and what would you rather explore independently?

02. How much moving between hotels is enjoyable for your group?

03. Who handles each transfer and provides local support?

04. What is included in the proposal, and what remains payable during the trip?

How to book with The Short List

1. Start with a conversation. Tell Hayden your dates, the number of travelers, a comfortable budget and any names already on your list.

2. Compare the right options. We narrow the choices, explain the differences and confirm the current price, terms and any available booking benefits.

3. Book with someone in your corner. We help coordinate the reservation and agreed trip details, and stay involved if requests or plans change.

For a trip with multiple moving parts, Private Planning begins at $300. We confirm the scope and any applicable fee before work begins. Already have a particular sailing or itinerary in mind? Send it over.

Booking benefits vary by supplier, departure, property, rate and availability. We confirm the details in your proposal.

A few useful answers

Do I need a guide every day?

No. We plan guiding where it adds useful context, access or logistical support. Independent time is part of the design.

How does Private Planning work?

Start with a conversation about your dates, priorities and budget. We agree the planning scope and fee, then develop and refine the trip before confirming bookings.
